The Tyrone family is presented to have a capricious relationship, one where they care for each other and simultaneously are taken over by feelings of jealousy, distrust and rage. For instance, Jamie bashes Edmund's career with "sneering jealousy" and then complements his brother, "ashamed" (36). Tyrone and Jamie argue back and forth about Mary's current situation and Edmund's sickness. When the two reach a part in their conversation when the other one accuses "suspiciously" (37). In fact, the family doesn't just seem conflicted with each other, but also conflicted with their own feelings, which seems to have lead to an unhealthy life style. Mary hates "the town and everyone in it," though she say's she is lonely and company would be nice (44). Edmund seems conflicted with drinking as well.
Has anyone else picked up on this? And what do you think the reason could be?

I believe that they are all trying to believe that they are something that they are not. Like when Jamie says that his father is a bad realtor. Because of that they are conflictedc with each ego that they have.
