Like most people in our class, I had my first poetry reading experience when Michael Dickman came to visit us. I didn't really know what to expect, but I was optimistic. During the reading, I found it interesting to listen to a poet read his work to us. I read the same poem in class that day, and had interpreted it differently before hearing it read by Michael. Therefore, I think that I would go to another poetry reading if I knew the author beforehand. After all, the poets original interpretation was what spoke to me the most during my first poetry reading.
