From Dickman's works that we read in class, I got the impression that he was a very dark, depressing man. However, when he started talking to us about his poetry and his life I was very surprised. I did not expect someone who had lived through the things that he had to have such a great personality and sense of humor. When he was reading some of his poems, I felt captivated and wanted to listen to more. I especially liked the plays that he had written. They were short and sweet, and the way that he presented them was hilarious and I was glad that I was able to go see him. It was interesting to see the difference between how I interpreted his poem and how he read it.
