I've noticed that throughout our class's in depth analysis of the play, there have been a few moments that Shakespeare has sort of "messed up". Here are two examples that I have found:
-The fact that King Hamlet's ghost is only able to be seen by a few individuals, but Gertrude can't. This is a little crazy because either everyone should be able to see the ghost or no one should. Shakespeare may be emphasizing that women are weak due to the fact that Gertrude, a woman, is the only individual unable to see the ghost. However, this is probably unlikely and in truth Shakespeare had an error.
-Another is the entire pirate sequence. Overall, it's a little ridiculous to the point that Shakespeare doesn't really try and explain what happens with the pirates. They're there and then they're not.
Has anyone found any other "mess ups" by Shakespeare?
